Birmingham Rockschool

We teach electric guitar, bass, drums and singing in our custom-built music studio in Kings Norton, Birmingham.

Our Rockschool lessons for 7 – 17 year olds and adults 18+ are taught in a rock-band environment. Students have a one hour lesson in guitar, bass, drums or singing, and spend 50 minutes learning new techniques on their instrument followed by an exciting 10 minute jam session where students get to put what they have learned into practice, performing rock or pop classics in a band with the other students.

Rockschool lessons are taught on a 2:1 basis with a maximum of two students per tutor, except for singing lessons which are taught on a 1:1 basis.

Rockschool lessons take place on Saturday mornings (10am, 11.10am, 12.20pm and 1.30pm), and on Tuesday evenings (5.20pm, 6.25pm and 7.30pm).

We also offer mini rockers sessions on Tuesdays from 4.15pm to 4.45pm and 4.45pm to 5.15pm. These are half hour sessions especially for our younger students.

In addition to our Rockschool sessions, we also offer 1:1 lessons for all ages and abilities – please contact us with your preferred day and time and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Our music lessons run for 50 weeks per year. We continue throughout all school holidays, with the exception of Christmas/New Year when we close for 2 weeks.

Learning from the best!

All our tutors are carefully selected and trained, and all are dedicated to passing their knowledge onto the next generation of musicians.

Studio lessons are taught on a 2:1 basis, however in the rare event of tutor illness, students may be taught in a larger group than normal.

Where possible, students will be taught by the same tutor each week, or in some cases by an alternating pair of tutors. However, students may be taught by other tutors when covering for staff holidays/illness.

We are Sharon and Gemma, mother and daughter and directors at Birmingham Rockschool!

We opened our first music school in February 2008 out of a passion for music and inspiring performance, and our enthusiasm has only grown in the years we have been operating. We started from humble roots with one school in Solihull on a Saturday morning, and now operate seven days a week in our very own custom built studio!

We only employ tutors that have exceptional skill and an outstanding love for passing on their musical knowledge to the next generation of rock superstars. All our tutors are certified awesome so take a look below to meet the team!

So many opportunities to show everyone how much you rock!

As well as performing in our weekly jam sessions, all Rockschool students have the opportunity to take part in several Rock Shows every year, performing on stage in front of family & friends.

Every Christmas, we put on a special seasonal performance for all the family including all your favourite festive songs, and we get spooky every October with our Halloween Spooktakular!

With the growing popularity of adult 1:1 singing lessons, we also arrange special Vocalist Showcase nights for our adult singers at local music venues.
